The orgone box was "a machine to trap the potent, healing force of the orgasms" and "resembled a wooden telephone booth lined with metal sheeting and steel wool."
google 'hysteria movie'...about the guy who invented the vibrator...btw, the vibrator was the fifth electrical device ever patented. one of the others was the toaster, and I can't think of another after those two to warrant googling at this hour of the morning... MR
I never could interest myself much in ol' Reich and I never have. I like that you thought of the orgone box in response to this vid. I can't take credit for finding it--I saw it on Facebook.
We did spend a few days up in Rangeley (Maine) this summer. Every time we're up there, we pass right by the Reich Institute. Crazy New England. Rangeley is WAY out in the boonies. You could hit a couple of moose on your way in. I wonder what kind of orgasms moose have, but I don't wonder too hard. Thanks for the shout-out, Erin. I wonder what your readers might think if they read my poem about my "dark raspberry heart." Does anyone think of orgone when they read that?
If you want to google about vibrators, ala MR's comment, google the book "The Technology of Orgasm." I think I've linked that here before. Not that I've ever read it or anything, but I think it sounds like it would be a fascinating read. I did hear an interview with the author several years ago.
I think I need a fringe dress. That go-go dancer is the bomb.

I cannot stop watching this vid. Just bought the song on iTunes.
Um, Mike? You realize of course that you're dealing with someone who does their research personally.
I wonder if one could get it in portable form, maybe with a little traveling case . . .
WV- ofiessup. Ofiessup, you know you want one!
Doesn't every woman already have one of those? I'm thinking of "When Harry met Sally"

This is the funniest thing! I love the guy watching her. Now I have to watch it again.
I love that the orgone box is lined with steel wool.
Imagine Reich and the design team.
Hey--let's use steel wool! Those fine metal fibers are sure to trap all the orgasm energy!
And yes, the guy in the vid cracks me up. I've watched this vid about 10 times.
Oh yeah, I used to see these all the over 42nd St in NYC until Giuliani was elected. I went through an awful lot of quarters.
@Mike...I always thought Manhattan was a much more fun place before they 'cleaned it up'...Times Square is like a Disney property now...
