Liberal media?

"Why doesn't our wonderful liberal media report the truth about how lousy our health care is compared to the rest of the developed world? Why do they give more media attention to people spreading known lies about health care reform proposals than they do to informing us of the massive media effort of health insurance companies to make sure those lies get spread?

Those are all rhetorical questions by the way."
--Steven D. for Alternet

That is one great rant, with solid embedded links--a must read. I found this via this gentlemen.

Complaints of media bias are a red herring. If the liberal media or most other "main stream media" were actually held accountable the consuming public would be horrified by the facts. (See: War on Terror) Remember the strategy is to attack the medium, not the message. It's a way of controling dissent.

I am so with RJ on this and will eventually get to expanding on the subject of 'who is running things' in my own journal soon.

The idea that there is a seperate wing of journalism is laughable. If there is, it won't be accessible to the masses. If there really was a kind of media collective witht the ability to reach a wide audience and dispense with a varied and dissenting perspective, it wouldn't be able to see much publicity.

That makes sense, when you consider that much of the planet's wealth is held in the hands of less than 5% of its population.

I'm almost sure I've posted this before but it's still relevant..."Perception Management."

Thanks for the link. A very informative and eye opening article.

In the long run Iguess the media is more enamored with reporting on gender gaps, rage and headline material. As for the gender gap I don't believe it. I'm at an advanced age, have good insurance but don't need to be hit over the head to realize we are all in this together.
