Practicing to be a NYC cab driver?

This reminds me to play more surf rock at work.

And of the Greatest New York Cabby ever. I was in NYC for a four-day conference. I stayed at a Weehauken hotel across the river from the conference hotel in Manhattan. Saved about $800, even with cab fare. 3 of the four mornings I got the same cabby, an elderly turbaned gentleman whom I suspect had not been in the US for very many years, and was likely from a locale with nothing like NYC traffic. Notwithstanding, as we accelerated away from my hotel, he began to bellow frantically into a cellphone, and I could hear his dispatcher bellowing back in their native tongue, the conversation appeared to be focused on traffic holdups and best routes. I noticed that he sat nearly in the center of the cab's front seat, and pivoted his head around about 300 degrees constantly. It was an awesome ride every morning, he would cram that Caprice in between guardrails, buses and dump trucks with inches to spare, operated the gas and brake pedals like on-off switches and cranked the steering wheel with all he had. I was early every morning for coffee and pastry. On the fourth day, I got a regular guy, we were 10 minutes late. What a town.

Wait for it...Wait for it...

This must not be one of those countries where we permit women to drive. Of course it's a mess...[te-he]they nust be giving permits to women drivers.
