Dear Cain campaign staff: Wait. Let me get this straight. Politico contacted you on October 20th. Their sexual harassment story ran on October 30. Hence you had ten days to prepare the Boy Wonder for the fallout and yesterday's stumbling bumbling mumbling was the best he could do? This, my pretties, does not bode well.
Dear conservative pundits: breaking a story about formally paying off a woman who made allegations of sexual harassment against a presidential candidate is neither racially motivated nor irrelevant.
Dear Hermain Cain: When you announce that you support forcing a woman who was brutally raped to carry her attacker's child to term, women are going to be very interested in your general attitude towards them. So here's a Code Red News Alert: Unwanted sexual advances made by men who support forcing women to bear unwanted children doesn't play real well.
Oh, and another thing: Singing to the National Press Club? That shit's just weird.
Erin O'Brien thinks Herman Cain is in big trouble. Erin O'Brien thinks Hermain Cain had better keep his pizza ovens warm.

Faith is a big part of the Herminator. His pizza doesn't have any substance, either. The real news is that he's one of the Koch brothers' boys, and has been for decades; that's what we really need to fear. The same group that brought you Kasich, Walker, Sandoval, Snyder, and all the rest of those bastards.
I watched entirely too much footage of Cain's bumbling yesterday, Badge, and I really think he's (ahem) cooked.
I didn't realize Cain was a Kochster, but that doesn't surprise me. As for Kasich, keep all eyes on OH next Tuesday and Issue 2. Most expect it will go down (and thereby take apart Kasich's union busting SB5), but you never know.
I give the righties credit. People usually love their firefighters and teachers--local heroes and all that, but the Ohio GOP is doing a good job vilifying them.
There's plenty of teachers in this state paying in 20 percent of their medical. But fair negotiations weren't enough for the righties. They tried to bust the unions anyway. They are bastards.
I always have to laugh to myself when I see one middle-class rightie worker bitching about another middle-class worker. Don't they realize how closely related their pay and benefits are to their Union brothers? I guess not.
The super rich love infighting among the little people.
Your last sentence says it all. And they not only love it, that's their primary strategy. Divide and conquer, and in so doing find even more ways to divert public funds into their pockets.
This is just another bump in the road toward the GOP's reluctant acceptance of Romney. Cain is not their savior any more than Bachmann was or Perry.wjm
That was weird...
That "We" shit always creeps me out.
Comes from working with people regularly accompanied by unseen others I guess.

Erin-
To me the biggest part of this story isn't what Mr Cain did or didn't do between 1996 and 1998 which may or may not have made some subordinates uncomfortable in the workplace-because I personally feel that being uncomfortable in the workplace is too low of a standard to set in the presence of TRULY abominable behavior which DOES take place in the workplace.
The biggest part is the speed and ferocity with which the Limbaughs and Coulters of the world decried the supposed dastardly tactics of the left in general, and by extension the Democrat party, in using such scurrilous rumors and innuendo to try to take down a strong black conservative like the honorable Mr Cain.
There are two important facts to keep in mind when considering the completely expected attacks from Limbaugh and his (slightly)less bovine colleagues' attacks.
One is that the story was broken by Politico, which is known most as being a mouthpiece for establishment DC-Democrat AND Republican-most commenters truly of and from the left despise
Politico.
The second thing to consider is that it is FIFTY-THREE weeks until the general election. The Republicans haven't even held their first primary yet, let alone come anywhere determining who their nominee will be. The only individuals who might profit from a leak of this kind, at this time, are OTHER REPUBLICANS. If any Democrats had this information, they certainly would have waited until there was an idea of who the nominee will be-they certainly wouldn't have used it now.
This has Karl Rove's slimy fingerprints all over it.
MR
As a "rightie," it's good to know that I'm officially a "bastard." (BTW, not a political statement, just observing that I now have another description that I can use to explain to others who/how I am).
BTW, anyone ever eat Godfather's Pizza? Any good? How does it compare to Pizza Hut/Papa John's/Domino's?

"The same group that brought you Kasich, Walker, Sandoval, Snyder, and all the rest of those bastards."
I didn't see your name in the list, Al. What's your connection to the Koch brothers? I'm pretty sure that's who the Badge was talking about.
Maybe you've taken up union busting? Those are the bastards I was talking about, but nice try anyway.
Nope, never had a deluxe Herminator, a sausage Herminator or even a large pepperoni Herminator. Don't intend to anytime in the future.
I don't remember the last time the primaries were such a carnival, as in these people are circus acts.
To think Ted Kennedy gaffed an interview question and lost all steam in 1980,and Ford gaffed an answer in a debate that was a slip of the tongue and it cost him critical momentum...
How can these people say actually idiotic things and be taken seriously?
Did I say carnival and/or circus? How about stand-alone freak show?
So, let's see. If you are down with abortion, unwanted sexual advances are OK? Is that what you're saying, Erin? I guess Clinton would be a good example of that. (Think Kathleen Willey and Gloria Steinem's one grope is ok comment) And Badger; is it the faith thing that creeps you out? Or, just when someone talks about it?
@Al-my last experience with Godfather's was that I would probably rather eat the napkins, although I will concede the possibility that the pizza is at least as nutritious.
MR
@ Erin: "But fair negotiations weren't enough for the righties. They tried to bust the unions anyway. They are bastards."
I'm a "rightie," or at least I consider myself one. You used the word "rightie" in your commentary. You also used the word "bastards" to refer to them. I was unaware you were referring to specific "righties" in your post.
This being said, plenty of folks in my lifetime have called me that. And many other things. Trust me.
No, I've not taken up union busting. I've got lots of other things to keep me busy. And no connection to the Koch brothers here.
Not had a Herminator yet, but then again, I don't think we have a Godfather's Pizza around here. Still interested in whether anyone here has had any, and if it's any good.

@ MR: Yeah, that's what I figured ... probably the same as Papa John's, Domino's, et. al. Why is it so damned hard to get a decent slice of pizza, anyway?

Hey Bill - Say what you want about Clinton, but there's one thing for certain about Bill, and NOW would say the same thing - He really liked women.
Bill, no, I'm not saying that.
Sorry Al, it still ain't working. There are plenty of leftie bastards as well. Come on up to Cuyahoga County and look up Jimmy Dimora.

Everyone please resume your regular blogging....

I didn't think so Erin but here's the part of your quote that promted my question: "Unwanted sexual advances made by men who support forcing women to bear unwanted children doesn't play real well."
Bill: no shit.
Sorry Erin. I guess it was pretty obvious but, since my sexual advances have all been wanted, I'm confused about all of this.

wanting'? sorry, I left my bifocals across the room...MR

Still looking for a decent slice of pizza.

Herman Cain. A Conservative black man of faith. Al Sharpton. A liberal black man of faith. I'm pretty sure Al can sing too. Both have run for president. Isn't it funny that, if you're black and conservative, you are demonized by the left? Anyway here's Al
typical left view of Herman
There's no way in hell I would ever vote for Herman Cain, but I have to admit, as shittily weird as it is to do it at the National Press Club, he DOES have a rather pleasant singing voice. Forgive me for saying that, but I'm a sucker for gospel-infused vocals (even though, as an agnostic, I don't adhere to the institution that gave rise to such vocals. Listening to the music, I sometimes wish I did.)
Odd that the Republican Party can't seem to settle on a candidate. For a long time now I've thought Obama can't be re-elected as long as unemployment remains this high, but now I wonder. Maybe 2012 will be different.
Erin, I must protest you calling Jimmy Dimora a lefty bastard. It's not the bastard part I'm protesting. "Lefty" and "Democrat" are not synonymous with each other. Neither is "liberal" and "Democrat", nor "progressive" and "Democrat". In our strait-jacket of a political system, there's really only two political parties, if you don't want to throw your vote away. As a result, one can even be mildly conservative and still feel more comfortable in the Democratic Party (increasingly so these days.) If all Democrats were lefties, we'd gotten single-payer health care instead of that ripped, torn, and mutilated "reform" instead.
Bill-
You're nothing if not consistent.
I left a post above pointing out the facts that the website Politico is regarded by few as a left-leaning publication and that a leak of this information at this time could only benefit one of the other Republican campaigns.
You have chosen to repeatedly view this story about Mr Cain as nothing more than a left-wing attempt to "demonize" Mr Cain.
Are there any circumstances in which facts interest you in reference to what you will or won't post about?
MR
Bill,
After I posted the above I went back to your link "typical left view of 'Herman'"(I think it's sweet you being on a first-name basis)
Re-read it.
It's not a 'typical left view of Cain', it's one reporter's assessment of why she thinks some Republicans who wouldn't ordinarily support a black candidate profess support for Cain.
Those are two diametrically opposed realities.
MR
MR: Almost all of the vitriol, by the left, against Mr. Cain, was spouted prior to this current revelation. There's plenty of it if you look for it. The left cannot stand a conservative black person. The "leak" about the unwanted sexual advances, may very well have come from a republican candidate. My point is valid regardless of who is responsible. However, Erin's post pretty much assumes Mr. Cain is guilty of something. Maybe we could wait to see if there's anything to it.
No, Bill, YOU look for it, and post the publication, author and date. Because left to your devices you're only capable of citing and mis-characterizing things like you just did above. As to your 'point being valid regardless of whom was responsible', what the HELL are you talking about? And what are you even talking about, 'vitriol'? Criticizing somebody because their so-called economic plan is an absurdly impossible joke isn't vitriol, it's just CRITICIZING.
This politics of victimization that the right has adopted is grotesque.
MR
--I've always considered Politico to be every-so-slightly right leaning.
--You know who's got guts? The writers listed in the original story byline. Libel is the scariest word in the world to a writer and I promise you Martin, Haberman, Palmer and Vogel confirmed every damn word of that story before it ran.
--Oh yeah, Ron Suskind has a steel set as well. I cannot tell you how much I respect that guy.
--Agreed Kirk. I consider myself a leftie, but not necessarily a Democrat.
--Also agreed that Cain has a nice voice.
--Until he came out as a rapist's best friend, I sorta liked Cain.
--I still can't believe how badly Cain's camp as handled this. And it just gets worse and worse.
--Good christ. If I pray real hard, will Ann Coulter's head pop off her neck?
--Can anyone imagine how all the righties would have salivated had Obama formally paid off a woman to go away?
--Speaking of the right's bloodthirst, they couldn't wait to sink their teeth into Monica Lewinsky, who wanted to fool around with Clinton. Cain's honey did not. Just wait until she starts talking.
Asked Tuesday night on the Fox News Channel whether he would ask the association to comply with Mr. Bennett’s request, Mr. Cain said, “I can’t give you a definitive answer on that until we consult with our attorneys.”
Um. That sort of a sentence is usually uttered by a guy who's totally effed.
~~quote link~~
Erin-
It turns out that the Cain camp's maladroit handling of this is quite possibly the lesser of his problems right now-Dan Bice of the Milwaukee Sentinel-Tribune broke a story three days ago about financial irregularities which would carry legal and not political import.
MR
I saw that MR, something about $40,000 and the Americans for Prosperity.
Yep, time to warm up the pizza ovens.

Bill @1:04
You are the picture of what trying to talk to right wingers is like. When all else fails, you can always fall back on false equivalence, even if your comparison doesn't really compare at all.
Don't you think it's a little ironic that someone who wants to prohibit abortion even in the case of rape is may have made unwanted sexual advances (which many think of as a form of rape, if not a first step towards it)?
That is the point, and like every other point, it sailed over your head as if you were a pair of goal posts.
And you might want to know that Kathleen Willey's story was discredited.
Like many right wing tools in the Clinton era.

Is it too soon, after witnessing Mr Cain's gyrations now for three days, to substitute "Squirmin' Herman" for the 'Hermanator' nickname?
MR
Herm the Germ.
For the one above (could it have been Bill?) who referred to the left's distaste for conservative blacks, I'd just like to point out that OBAMA is a conservative black by almost any thinking person's measure. As a moderate Dem, he has done nothing akin to what "lefties" of all stripes would like to have seen done by now.
Ya'll seem to think you've picked over the Cain Carcass pretty well. Might as well start on the Mormon since he'll be the nominee. I hate to think what will happen if he picks a minority for running mate.
Mrs C: well stated.
Bill: hmmm ... let's see ... we can start by demanding to see his birth certificate and braying on about how he pals around with terrorists ...
Oh hell, I'm not done.
Cain has no one to blame but himself. He had ten days to prepare for this and he has done nothing but squirm and fume instead of explaining himself.
Anyone with a brain can see he's hiding something and has been since this story broke. No matter how much the wingnut righties want to put a halo on his head, voters deserve straight answers about Cain's professional life--just ask David Gergen.
The Gergen piece is really good!
Dear Sweet Jesus,
I know I've been a bad boy. But if you'll command Mitt Romney to choose Alan West as his running mate I swear I'll change my ways.
Amen.
RJ
Dear God, (2/3 of the trinity)
I meant Allen West. I didn't mean Adam West.
Amen.
RJ
Bill-
Discussing "the Mormon" is a great option in so many ways. First, there seem to be not 'the' Mormon in this race, but 'those' Mormon(s)so in keeping with Mr Romney's apparent preference, he won't have to decide! And we can keep Mr Cain in the mix, so we can see whether or not he would enjoy expanding on his previously expressed religious bigotry!
Everybody loses!

MEMO TO @AL:
There are a few recurring food themes in this thread-pizza, obviously, whether or not one candidate may or may not be 'cooked', hell, even Bill jumped in with the word 'carcass'.
And then Ann Coulter's name was mentioned.
So I am wondering, to tie together the themes of food, and Ann Coulter, if you could provide a recipe for 'adams-apple' pie in time for the holidays?
Thanks, your pal MR
Huh? I'm having one of those goal post moments.
@ MR: I'll come up with something.

I admit it: I can't take my eyes away from Cain's spectacular fall.
His current strategy is to find out who leaked this. Brilliant, Hermie. Instead of talking about what the hell happened, focus on who discovered that something did happen.
His incompetence is startling.
The Spirit of the Lord was upon the waters (3/3) and the exclamation was heard:
WACKADOODLE!
RJ
P.S. Cue the next GOP flash in the pan (Not a cooking but a firearm term)
RJ
For someone who has achieved so much, Cain's incompetence right now is simply stunning.
He really thought this wouldn't surface? Or that he could dodge it if it did? Money changed hands. Lawyers were involved. There were papers and formal complaints.
Herm the squirm's denial and delusion over this is some sort of freakish hubris.
This just in: Cain regards the attempt by the Chinese to gain nookuler weapons of mass destruction an indication they are a military threat to the US.
Uhh..., since 1964.
Dipshit.
lmao PB.
Then, of course, there's this little mathematical problem:
"As the world's population is approximately 6.7 billion,(7 billion now) China represents a full 20% of the world's population so one in every five people on the planet is a resident of China."
Does Custer ring a bell with anyone?
RJ
Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they’re sure trying to do so, it’s going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can’t and won’t compromise. I know, I’ve tried to deal with them.

Jesse was all over CNN this weekend but do you think anyone would ask him about the sexual harassment charges against him? Seems like it might be news. But, he's not conservative
He's also not running for president, Bill. Is he running for any public office?
IF you can believe anything involving Gloria Allred:
Today's news conference re Mr Cain proves that Mr Cain is a natural job creator times two: he asked Ms Bialek to give HIM a job so he could give HER a job...GENIUS...

Erin: The man is facing CURRENT sexual harassment charges and they're asking him to comment on some harassment accusations against Cain. And they don't even ask him about the current charges officially filed against him?

It seems to me that Mr Cain was merely trying to pole the electorate?
