Actually we were out there last week. Had a BLAST!

We were in a hotel, so I was in no position to do a lot of cooking, but the produce at the market blew me away. Look at those artichokes! I'd never seen anything like them.

That is one market that has a long waiting list for vendors.. Its one of the best.. a lot of the restaurants buy their produce there... You hit SM at the right time... good weather. also you missed Carmageddon! (it was non existent) lol...

I heard if you eat an organic California artichoke in a hotel room it'd give you the gay.

The women in CA were so beautiful, I probably didn't even need the artichoke.

Now then, what about eating organic goat in a hotel room?

Traveling 2200miles to get the veg. Sorta fucking up the notions of the green movement, eh.

Erin O'Brien said...

Could someone please take Vince? I'm tired.

Hey Vince...hustle on over to Tottenham and quiet things down. Then we'll work on the asparagus.

Thank you, RJ.

I want that artichoke. Bad. I miss Ca produce...

It's a long time since someone tried to bully me high school style, or any other style for that matter. Don't you think it's time you got over yourself O'Brien. And RJ, you snide little gobshite, develop your own mind. And what sort of dimwits, so called democrats, would cheer the destruction of council housing estates by their inhabitants.

Erin O'Brien said...

For someone who regularly leaves snide and flippant comments on these here pages, you certainly have a thin skin, Vince.

I'll cop to the snide gobshite.

I'll cop to mindlessness.

I can't ascertain how my comment constitutes cheering nor identification with a group known as democrats.

These kind of forums aren't much fun anymore.

The Jimenez Family Farm has a nice operation going there. I checked out their web site. I'm always skeptical of "organic" stuff because there's no good way to prove it. I believe them.

Sidebar for Vince, et al...

"Those condemning the events of the past couple of nights in north London and elsewhere would do well to take a step back and consider the bigger picture: a country in which the richest 10% are now 100 times better off than the poorest, where consumerism predicated on personal debt has been pushed for years as the solution to a faltering economy, and where, according to the OECD, social mobility is worse than any other developed country."
Nina Power. Guardian. 8/8/2011.

Occupation of Wall Street, NYC 9/17/2011

International Mobilization 10/15/2011.

Change is coming.

Over and out.

Let's burn down some stuff and see if we can get some of the rich guys money. He shouldn't be 100 times better off than us. We'll settle for 75 times better off but 100 is unacceptable.

So I post some inane vacay pix and y'all find controversy just the same.

Please--don't stop. I love it. We practice free speech here at the Owner's Manual, which is more than I can say for some rightie tightie sites.

His "comment policy" kills me. What a tool.

Erin O'Brien said...

And I'm right with you RJ, those were exactly my thoughts when I watched the London coverage last night.

Over here, of course, they'll all have AK-47s. Wonderful.

Thanks to Vince for the lecture on 'council houses'.
BTW-"Council House Estates" is 'British' for 'the 'hood', 'the projects'...etc. (Isn't it cute they have another word for everything in 'British'
for our 'english?')
Thanks, 'mate' ('British' for buddy, chum, or dude) for the dose of multicultural take on inner city reality, but we have it up to our "Arses" on "This Side Of The Pond".
"Saturday's kid's live in council 'ouses, wear vee neck shirts and baggy trousers"-example of "British" 'songwriting', circa 1979.
Nothing but love, Vinny...Mike R
wv: spelar-"British" for 'speller'
