All hail

There's no telling whether it was liberal or conservative gods meddling with my Blogger account, but it has been a' meddled. Therefore, this morning's post shall be short and to the point.

Congratulations to all of the 2010 election winners and condolences to the losers. May not one penny of my tax dollars go to the funding of John Boehner's perpetual tan.

Other than that, I shall proudly don egg on my face regarding the publication of one Conservative Eulogy for the Cleveland Scene on May 6, 2009 and offer this commentary to the Democratic Party:

You dumbasses.

On the upside, I look forward to Sarah Palin's venerable grizzly mama teeth sinking into the genital areas of Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney and any other unfortunate rightie male who gets between her terrible incisors and the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Chew, Sarah, chew, chew, chew!

Thank you as always for your continued support and God Bless America.

Love, Erin

3/4 of the jobs lost in Ohio are because of outsourcing. Now that we have a new Repub Gov. and a new Repub Sen., maybe someone on the right or left can explain how the Repubs or Dems or anybody creates jobs when Corps get incentives to send those jobs overseas.

The current Repub members of congress blocked the bill proposed by the Dems to end the outsourcing tax incentives. I say it is now time for the Repubs to put up or shut up!

Erin: You would be sooooo happy if you lived in Calfifornia. The conservative voters, count me among them, took a huge beating last night and our brilliant electorate moved a lot closer to taking our wonderful state down the tubes.

I'm actually in an oddly good mood today, as if I've had a massive intellectual bowel movement.

And really, all the Republicans in the world cannot diminish the fabulosity of the O'Brien.

I love you. Kiss my ass. Carry on.

At least with the mid-term election over, the political attack ads will end on the TV...it'll be interesting to see if anything changes...unfortunately, I doubt it...and as you say, nothing can diminish the fabulosity of the O'Brien...

I'm sure the Republicans will immediately advocate for spending cuts in defense to balance the budget...j

Bill said...

Anon: I'm sure you're being facetious but there are some new members of Congress who may actually put defense spending on the table. A faster, smaller, better trained, high tech, defense makes sense. Close some bases in Korea, Europe?

Al The Retired Army Guy said...

Bill - Actually, they've closed a lot of bases in both Korea and Europe. In Korea, where I spent a year and a half all told, they've pretty much closed down the vast majority of our Camps near the DMZ. One entire brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division, which had been stationed in Korea deployed to Iraq, and never went back to Korea; it returned to Fort Lewis, WA. We are also building up Camp Humphreys, about 55 miles south of Seoul and are moving the vast majority of our remaining troops in Korea (about 26,000) there, to include HQ U.S. 8th Army in Seoul (which is where I spent my time - what a great city). Also, the ROK will assume command and control of their own armed forces in wartime beginning next year (previously, United Nations Command - Combined Forces Command, headed by a U.S. four-star general did), meaning that a lot of the U.S. personnel that helped man UNC-CFC will no longer be needed, meaning our footprint will be further reduced.

We've closed a lot of bases in Germany, but I'm not as familiar with that.

As usual, on Erin's blog, there is someone who know's a lot about any subject. Witness Al the Retired Army Guy. Thanks Al.

Erin,

I wouldn't worry about any of your tax dollars going to support Boehner's perpetual tan. They're already taxing tanning places to the tune of 10% under the health care law (they had some articles in the local newspaper down here about it). If that keeps up tanning salons will go out of business and Boehner will have to build his own solarium to get a tan.

As for the egg on your face, I think it is only fitting that a Republican such as myself actually make the eggs (I am a trained cook, after all) for you to proudly display on your fabulous visage.

And I must admit that the prospect of Sarah Palin chewing off Newt Gingrich's, Tim Pawlenty's, or Mitt Romney's genitals is a visual that I just couldn't pass up should it come to pass. I'd have to get a picture of it and ask her to sign it.

Your fabulosity will never be diminshed. Ever.

Bill,

Never said I knew a lot about any subject. Merely commenting on what I know was happening regarding our military in Korea due to my experience living there for 18 months between 2004-2007, off and on. You can look it up (www.usfk.mil) if you wish to verify what I've written.

As a visitor to the US I couldn't get over an advert which finished "I'm not a witch....." Superb, was she running for Mayor of Salem? I had visions of wonderful women in Puritan outfits checking for signs of the beast in the electorate. The Ads here make European elections seem very dull.

People voted their pocketbooks in2008, and voted their pocketbooks again yesterday. If the economy doesn't approve by 2012, they'll vote their pocketbooks again, and dump incumbents on the left and the right.

While I wouldn't mind closing all our overseas bases (and let them all fend for themselves), we have downsized quite a bit (as Al has already indicated). The Naval Air Station in Iceland has closed, the Naval Air Station in Bermuda (yes, THAT Bermuda) has shuttered its hangars, the Naval Air Station in Puerto Rico has gone (yes, technically part of the U.S. but you know what I mean), and the Navy's footprints in the Azores and Spain have been diminished.
As far as this year's elections goes, let's just hope the new kids on the block don't dick it up.

Jusko, I agree!

That is what I saw last night, incumbent after incumbent went dowm. When there was none, then the candidated painted as the "establishment".

Interestingly: After 4 consecutive terms of a Republican governor, the "liberal" state of Vermont has elected a Democrat into the position. The loser was the Lt. Gov., and a member of the Air National Guard.

I don't know if I'm proud or just baffled, but yet again, Vermont proves there's no place like it.

(Al, very glad to see you back. And no, this post isn't bait...hope all's well.)

I never darkened the doors of Kellogg-Hubbard for fear that I'd be sprayed with patchouli oil and subjected to Grateful Dead tunes, Obama speeches and tofu once inside. Hence, I survived the liberal hell that is Montpelier, VT for a Republican like me.

Glad to be back.

Does anyone, here, think that there will be a progressive challenger to Obama in 2012?

VideoDude said...

I know one thing: The Repubs won't be able to just sit around and say "NO" for the next two years, like they have the last two. I haven't checked, yet, to see how many House and Senate seats are up for grabs. The American public won't stand for two more years of Repubs do nothingness. Now that they control the House we need to see more than just subpeonas out of them. The Repubs have a big problem though. For years they have called Liberals and Pres. Obama "evil", "marxist", "The Devil". Now to make the government work, they will have to work with the Dems ("evil"). But I guess that's okay, because the Repub idea of compromise is: "Just agree with us". Repubs are still using the Busch doctrine of "your either with us or against us"!

VideoDude said...

The "Lame Duck" congress needs to re-introduce the Bill to end incentives for companies outsourcing jobs. Force the Repubs to vote against it, again.

In Ohio and Michigan, 3/4 of the jobs lost are do to outsourcing jobs overseas.

As the Pres. of the US (Of China) Chamber Of Commerce said: "There are good reasons for outsourcing jobs and work"... Yes, for the Chamber and the Repub Party.

Bill said...

I think the left will get more and more agitated with the Pres and there's not too much he will be able to do to appease them. Also, this will give MSNBC something to talk about. They seem to believe that the reason Dems lost big is because they didn't stick to a more progressive agenda. I'm guessing that Stewart's Return to Sanity Rally didn't work.

Anonymous said...

The Republicans are likely to introduce a number of cuts via the House, only to have them stopped in the Senate or by Obama's veto. They'll position this as Obama & the Dem-controlled Senate being the problem for the 2012 elections.

VideoDude said...

What will they cut? Not one of them will say! Say what you will about MSNBC, but they have been asking this question over and over again. We have tried conservatism, and it has failed! First under Regan and we almost went down the tubes, does anyone remember the Savings and Loan crisis, the so-called Keating five. Then Busch/Cheney deregulating the Financial industry. Tax incentives to send our jobs overseas! And look where we are today!

And the Repubs are already saying, "No Compromise!". They are following the Limballs playbook. "You can't compromise with evil".

It seems the Repubs don't believe the government is in the job creating jobs. However, they do believe the governement is in the business of creating jobs in China and other countries.

Word Verification-Mingsafe: where all the Repubs keep their money!
