Smoking Goat
The Goat is smoking a turkey in our Weber kettle.
This procedure requires an array of mysterious equipment worthy of a warlock ...
... and copious Goat attention.
The Goat begins preparing some of the associated paraphernalia days before the actual smoking of the turkey.
Although the Goat often wears shoes while lounging on our bed to watch television (which always elicits a GODDAMNIT ANYWAY TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF WHEN YOU'RE ON THE BED from Yours Truly), he compensates by wearing slippers while smoking a turkey.
The Goat will smell of smoke for the rest of the weekend.
Time to make the green bean casserole. See you on the other side.

That turkey looks good!
Keeping with our tradition of being non~traditional, we will be having smoked ham quesadillas for our Thanksgiving dinner.
Every year we try to find some quirky non~traditional way to celebrate. We've done everything from having frozen Lean Cuisine turkey dinners to going out to an old Jewish deli in Hollywood.
And today, instead of watching games or parades, we're painting the house! Whoo hoo!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Happy Thanksgiving, Erin.
We had the traditional turkey....but it was gooooood......
To dogsdontpurr: I think there's something in the constitution about the turkey and football thing. I wouldn't be surprised if a neighbor turned you in or something. ham quesadillas? might as well of gone to taco bell. jeez. well... i hope you got the painting finished.
word verification: reste. i reste my case
its nice to see that you keep your goat busy on a day like that and that you dont have to do all the cocking by yourself, wise woman :)
Way to keep Goat out of trouble while also preparing a delicious Thanksgiving feast. I hope you had a wonderful day, Erin!
Mone: I've never seen the term "cocking" but your use of it in your post seems perfect.
I want to go cocking right now.
Whew! I'm glad I read your blog! I've heard of smoking tobacco, smoking hash, smoking pot, even smoking tea, but I wondered about smoking "goat." Makes more more sense. My apologies...guess I should read more...?
Erin, when the Goat smokes a turkey, can he hold it between his forefinger and middle finger, like smokers do? He must have really strong hands! Turkeys are BIG.
WV - nersess. Health care professionals one might call on if burned from smoking.
re: cocking. i'm trying to sell my wife on the idea right now. she laughed. i don't know how to read that.
i love The Goat
Isn't cocking suppose to be part of the Thanksgiving celebration, and the day after, and the day after that and the ... ?
