An intimate speaking engagement

Similar experience, Erin. I was on the 4th installment of a presentation. I had to think quickly when I saw only 2 in the audience. I'm pretty good in a pinch and decided I'd sit WITH them and present a little less formally - turn it into "conversation" . . . except that I was in the company of 2 stuffed shirts and it was damned hard going. I prefer humans with a pulse and sparking brain cells.

Oh, Gawd. Both you and LimesNow . . . what fresh hell.

Personally, I think the bigger the audience, the better the chances of someone getting my dumb jokes. One-on-one like that is tough.

Awkward. Sounds like your speaking engagement was too.

I talk to myself for about 18 hours a day.

Most of the time I enjoy the topic.

I suppose it is a bit awkward, anon. I'm a bit intimidated by my recent surge in readership. I sure hope some of them stick with me.

It was tough, Expatresse, and I probably should have done what Limes suggested. I started off with, "Let's get started and maybe the others will trickle in ... " which never happened. After a while, it was just too late.

Hi hoose.

Erin, as a lifelong Clevelander, you know that the name of the county in which you live is pronounced "KIE-YOO-GUH."

Please make a note of it.

I'm a lifelong Clevelander. I didn't know it was pronounced that way. Then again, I'm actually a lifelong surburban Clevelander, so maybe it's different within the city limits.

I wonder what Ghoulardi would have thought about all of this.

I worked as a small group facilitator for awhile, needed at least 10 to start, often only had 3-4. Wouldn't get paid if I canceled class. Some of my best classes happened this way.

You shouldn't be intimidated, Erin. Quality will always out. You're just finding/experiencing the natural growth in numbers of the people who want to read your work - because your work is interesting, worthwhile and engaging - Human. And if being you is what drove them here, then you should just continue being you in the way you write. I know folks here in the UK love it.

Please just keep providing your unique slant of life here, and people will 'stick with' you.

You're a refreshingly honest pleasure to read. I doubt I'm the only person here who feels that. Please keep it up!

Cheers,

Bren.

Erin I am sticking with you because you make reading entertaining. Subject matter changes all the time. It has to keep up with the currents of the world at hand. But your style is great. I enjoy it very much. Even your readers post comments that to me, are a compliment to what you have brought out in them. Even if I was the only ONE you were writing too.

Always be sincere, even if you don’t mean it

I'm from Columbus, and we say "Kye-a-ho-ga." "Kye" rhymes with "eye."

For Advanced Ohioan, can you pronounce "Olentangy"? or "Gallipolis"? Graduate Level: "Rio Grande"?
