Dead elephants

Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

If you're like me and just can't get enough of this stuff, go dig Time Magazine's dirge for the GOP. Here's a brief excerpt:
So Republicans need to decide what Republicans need to believe. What does their three-legged stool of strong defense, traditional values and economic conservatism mean today? Does strong defense mean unqualified support for torture, outdated weapons systems and pre-emptive wars? Do traditional values mean no room in the tent for pro-choicers like Specter and Snowe?

On Limbaugh! On Cheney! On Rove!
Go Palin! Go McCain! Go Boehner!

Time Magazine is the most leftist magazine around, so it should surprise no one that they run a hit piece on conservatives like this.

The fact is that Barack Hussein Obama, our Marxist Fascist Homosexual in chief, is terrified if the thrashing the Democrat Party will receive in the 2010 midterm elections, and of the thrashing he will receive personally at the hands of a hard traditionalist like Bobby Jindal or Sarah Palin. That's why the goons in his adminitration are threatening to humiliate the hedge funds supporting Chrysler in the press if they do not go along with the cramdown.

This is a true thugocracy at work. As bad as that of Bill Clinton (ask Kathleen Willey), and it's downfall is near.

Tea Party Patriot's Day is July 4th!

No fears for ye faithful, the RNC trotted out Gingrich, Cheney and McCain in order to rally party support yesterday. Woo-hoo!

Heard from GOP spokesperson on NPR (commiefaggotradio) this a.m....."It is the height of arrogance to say a party is going to be in power forever..." (I believe Carville said the next 40 years.)
Spokesperson did not offer reasons but said the GOP is having townhall meetings nationwide that will surely unleash the pent-up conservative backlash so many are predicting.
It occured to me the other day that the GOP today resembles the Dems after the 1968 convention debacle and we are just now finding a consistent voice again. In 40 years I'll be dead, see ya GOP.

I can't imagine one-party rule for any significant length of time, but the GOP could easily be toppled by a brave new party, one that sprouts from the REAL center-right.

But what a bunch of gasbags they are! Cheney touting the Bush admin's torture program, the Biggest Loser McCain and Gringrich accusing Obama & Co. of McCarthyism.

I swear the lot of them would drop a bomb right on my head themselves if they could accredit it to Al Qaeda and say, "See! Obama's not keeping you safe!"

Religate me to the conspiracy theorist file but I am convinced the biggest terrorist threat to the U.S. at this time is internal, not external.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if some wingnut set off a dirty bomb here if they could pin failure of national security on the left.

As far as Obama being a Marxist Fascist Homosexual goes, Marxist and Fascists, as a rule, don't like each other, and whenever Fascists get into power, among the first people they persecute are the homosexuals. Some of the more totalitarian Marxists (Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot) weren't too happy about gays either.

As far as Bill Clinton's thugocracy goes, it's an odd thugocracy that lets its leader get impeached.

As far as a new party emerging to replace the Republicans goes, the thing to keep in mind about the two-party system is that it's SYSTEMIC. There are all sorts of laws, rules, and regulations, on both the state and federal levels, that keep third parties marginalized. So, unless they try to get all those laws, rules, and regualtions changed, the "true" center rightest (whom I have no reason to particularly trust any more than the extremists) are stuck with the GOP.

As far as my previous comments goes, some belated proofreading.

The second "Marxist" in the first sentence should be plural.

"regualations" should be "regulations"

"rightest" should be "rightist"

I was in a hurry.

The Republican Party would do well to consider (and I'm sure they have) the fact of the Blue Dog Coalition in the Democratic delegation. There are 51 members, conservative and moderate. Without them, the Democrats do not have a majority in the House.
