Referendum proponents known as the "Protect Marriage" coalition on Friday took their campaign one step further, petitioning the Supreme Court to annul the gay marriages officiated so far in California.I may not be religious, but I'll be goddamned if I don't pray these "Protect Marriage" scumbags have to meet their maker one day. I wish I could live long enough to watch history judge them.
"Proposition 8's brevity is matched by its clarity," the group said in its legal brief. "There are no conditional clauses, exceptions, exemptions, or exclusions: 'Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.'" --Google News.
Forcing people apart, huh? Did you motherfuckers learn that in the Bible?

I would like to nominate "unqualified pieces of dog feces" as a new cliche' a la the older post several days ago.
Then all you have to do for the remainder of '09 is post "updf" and we'll know what you're talking about.
Idiots.

I am torn on this issue--domestic partners have the same de facto rights in California that married people have--as long as they register with the Secretary of State.
Every right except "calling it marriage"--so the argument would go that this is the same sort of "separate but equal" treatment that was purportedly offered blacks in the Jim Crow era of the South.
If this was happening in an economic boom, the opponents of Proposition 8 would probably be more militant, but the people in the middle on this issue who have a job are probably right now just glad they have a job.
On the other hand, we don't overturn something fundamental like Miranda v. Arizona just because it's a recession, so the economic climate shouldn't rule on this issue, either.
I don't know how the conservatives in California deal with the domestic partnership registry, but here in Ohio they're trying to stop that from going through too.
Bastards.
I am religious: and I think this is appalling. Jesus would be ... sad, I think. He said marriage was a good thing. He did not say that it was something that should be restricted to a few.
Those who pick and choose lines from Leviticus and Romans missed the whole fucking point of the Gospels.
I take it you do not agree with the prop 8 people? You seem a bit miffed.
A bit miffed?
That someone would try to force an annulment on another person makes my otherwise supple brunette tendrils turn into snakes and tiny flames flare from my nostrils.
This subject seems to bring out, prosewise, your inner Hunter S. Thompson.
I don't have a dog in this fight. I think the basic idea of marriage itself is outdated and a waste of time and effort.

I too am appalled - being that as a Christian I cannot associate myself with those that would hurt rather than help others. What would Jesus do? seems a fitting thought for these people.
I love being married.
: )
What if someone forced me to annul my marriage?

Who do these people think they are?
Thanks everyone for commenting.
