It just gets better and better

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis from the Huffington Post:
"Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children?" Davis said. "So until at which point in time we feel like the news media is going to treat her with some level of respect and deference, I think it would be foolhardy to put her out into that kind of environment."

There. Doesn't everyone feel better now?

That spin was so very bad, so inarticulate and so paper thin, that it indicates to me Davis is under a great deal of stress and is frustrated to the point of being nonsensical.

If this interview (cited in link) actually materializes this week, won't it be interesting.

I was lukewarm on Hillary, but can you IMAGINE how she would have been attacked if she hid behind campaign spokespersons for even a minute?

This is beyond fiction. I'm speechless. Utterly.

It has moved from smelling of desperation to smoldering in it.

Now watch her show up on prime time and put us all in our place by being brilliant.

effing hell.

Tree--I am nonplussed that you are "Tray" phonetically, but that I can only type you as a "tree" here in commentland. Just know that you're my favorite maple, baby.

Oh, you are making me blush like autumn in Vermont.

Looks like Charlie is going to have first crack at Palin. Suppose we'll see if she gives good head or if Charlie can keep his eyes on hers. Something tells me that one of the two are going to come off looking like a Jackasary. And I wouldn't be surprised if it's Charile.

I miss Tim Russert more with each passing day.

BillO would give her a break. Why not an interview with him? Or Rush? The two most bigoted, racist, do gooders ever would ask her clean, honest questions.

Biden is going to rip the token a new asshole.

Now, isn't this statement a brilliant little snippet of Uniquack? Considering how deeply entrenched the Republicans are in the media (Clear Channel, etc.), this comes off as quite an irony.

Toby said...

There may be some irony, I see a vote purchase. Palin is the new internet whore.

Trée. Copy and paste. ;)

Also, I think she's a media scandal and darling at the same time. We'll see how this plays out, but I imagine her interview won't give McCain a boost like her convention speech.

If you could ask her any question, what would you ask? Or any three?

Rick Davis really means, "well, she can't answer any serious questions, so let's all save ourselves the embarrassment ..."

Biden's going to have a tough time in the debates trying to paint a picture of her being a complete idiot, without coming off as mean himself. "Oh, you big meanie! Picking on the nice lady like that ..."

As for my three questions, they'd be:

1) In the case of your pregnant daughter, do you feel that she was failed by: a) your belief of abstinance education, or, b) your shortcomings as a parent?

2) Do you believe that States in these United States of America have the right to suceed from the Union? Do you believe it should be permittted and in which cases?

3) Prior to your current run as Vice President, what foreign leaders have you met in your time as Governor of Alaska?

Dear Sarah Palin,

Have you ever faked an orgasm?

Well, the OBVIOUS argument is that it is a dangerous world out there, and a lot of people hate Americans.

If she can't handle the "piranhas," she doesn't have the 'nadz to keep us safe if McGeezer gets incapacitated--which is about "coin flip" likely.

PS--I heard she tried to get on Oprah--which is like ME saying I will bat against Roger Clemens, but he has to throw Nerf balls.

Oprah is sitting out the rest of the election apparently--still wounded from the Clintonista's.

So her first interview, I hear, will be Charles Gibson.

I GUESS that is one step above, "If you were a twee, what kind of twee would you be?"

But not much...

I mean, that's not exactly Hannity & Colmes.

oh and Gibson is an old hag; a grandma, with those glasses resting on his nose. i used to respect him as a "journalist" until he teamed up with that fucking midget Stephanopolous and conducted THE worst Dem. debate I've ever seen. it took these ABC boys 53 minutes before they mentioned policy. the entire 1st hour was spent attacking Obama. Charlie needs to retire, or move on to 20/20.

I'd love to ask her about her statement that "Bristol has decided to keep the baby". Did she give her daughter the choice she'd deny all the rest of us? What were Bristol's actual options?

If you want "deference," join a country club. The staff there are all trained to defer. If you want "deference," you ought not be in politics. "Deference" is not what reporters are supposed to do. "Deference" is not the reason the Fourth Estate has First Amendment protection. For now, anyway.
But guess what, folks - there are a whole lot of people out there in America who believe that "deference" is what nice candidates with good hair deserve, and that the mean old press ought to scale back on those pesky questions. Seriously. I mean, SERIOUSLY.
