Nice work Erin. Liked the way you contrasted your (very honest) personal experience with the possible Palin policies... wish the paper had given you more room.

Beautifully written; thank you, Erin.

My second pregnancy ended earlier this summer in an emergency c-section thanks to an eclamptic seizure. My daughter spent five weeks in the NICU before she was deemed healthy enough to come home. Naturally, I don't want a pregnancy number three given how unhealthy pregnancy number two was, and my husband and I are making damn sure pregnancy number three never happens. If it did occur, though, I am grateful I have the option to do something about it. Palin would rather have my children grow up without a mother if another pregnancy succeeded in killing me. She both disgusts and scares the hell out of me. I can only hope she and McCain are defeated, because once my daughter is grown, I want her to have the same choice I have.

Very well done. Your reference to innocent Iraqi women was especially poignant. Very well said.

Thanks for the nice comments. The strangest thing about doing this story is Palin's MIA status on the Internet.

McCain has got her swaddled in lots and lots of bubble wrap, safe from the Evil Press and effectively hidden from the American people. We'll see how Charlie Gibson does tonight, but he is usually the softball type.

Awesome! I loved "draconian tripe".

Way to go!

Yes. What irks me is the lack of info. on Palin hastily removed by anonymous sources, thus rendering your piece---albeit nice and tight and concise---to an OpEd. OpEds, as we know, are easily dismissed by nay-sayers who fall back on the "but where's the proof" argument. In this case, "the proof" has been erased. This bloody country is headed in the same exact direction my family emigrated from, almost 30 years ago: totalitarian/communist.
