Oh, Erin... these waves of sympathy for you:((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))

'cause that's REALLY disappointing, especially after all your hard work. (And lost income, etc.)
NEVER let these a**holes get you down. Disappointing, yes. I feel 'ya sister.

Pick the cliche of your choice:
...something good will come of it
...you'll find someone else
...wasnt' meant to be
...you'll bounce back
...all editors are a**holes
...you hang in there, kid, your turn will come

But most importantly, waves of sympathy (see above). Every writer worth her salt has been there. (Too cliche?)

I look forward to your next post.

((*Hugs*)) I laugh and cry with you almost everyday here. Your writing moves me. I always look forward to seeing what you've got next.

Whoever it was that turned you down needs to be smacked upside the head. They don't know what they're missing!

On a bitingly cold day
The writer put down her pen
And pulled the blanket over her shoulders.
Realizing that she only wrote for one.
And was at peace.
Surrounded by friends who
Respected and loved her.
And that's all that matters...
Thats all that really matters.

Would it help if you knew eHarmony told me they didn't think I could get laid in a women's prison?

Thanks everyone.

And yes, Anonymous, it does help to know that eHarmony doesn't think you could get laid in a women's prison. In fact, it gave me a great laugh.

I'm one of those editors sending out rejection slips to poets. But I'm also a poet waiting breathlessly for responses from editors. Bad karma probably.

What I really want to know

Remember, an editor is just one person. Think of all the people you KNOW who you wouldn't show your work to, and then assume, well, you can't know your editors, so a lot of them aren't the right editors.
Sort of like: you don't sell a sports car to a truck driver or vice versa.

Erin, that blows.

And if it helps, I once got the "friend speech" at a whorehouse.
