Across the Universe
Just saw this. Loved it. Sure, there were some weak moments, but Joe Cocker singing "Come Together" in a musical? Bono doing "I am the Walrus?" Add those gems to the dance number in the bowling alley and you've earned back the price of admission a couple of times over.
It's garnered some boos elsewhere, but I thought "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" with Eddie Izzard was delicious, as were the Bondesque ending credits that roll along to Bono singing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." And oh yeah, I'd happily do it in the road with either Dana Fuchs or Martin Luther McCoy.
Show me one more time, baby.
