"In the word." How is it that someone you just met described you perfectly and succinctly. I'm often envious of your talent; now I'm envious of his. Poetry in the most unexpected places.
Wow, that was truly beautiful, Erin. I am decidedly, vociferously, anti-religion - for the reasons you mentioned and more. Namely, the heaps of corpses and masses of widows and orphans it leaves in its wake.
But, I have to admit, there are times and circumstances where religion can touch me deeply.
OK, question: Did you really call him brother? the reason I ask is b/c I (have been) calling peeps brother. I (heard myself) call Thing 1 'brother' last night! Kick ass story! WOO!
Hey ~d, The story is 100 percent true. Well, I'm not sure there were actual beams of light shooting from my head as I turned into the store, but I sure felt like it.
He was truly a marvelous guy and I loved meeting him. He loved that I called him "brother."

I love you, Erin. And not just for your way with words and naked photos.
When are you moving to Vancouver?
What a wonderful story Erin. I love it.
I tagged you. HAHA.

You just gave me one of those moments. Thank you.
That was heartwarming.
No wait, that sounds like something you'd say about a teevee x-mas special.
That was....inspiring?
Ack, that's not quite right either.
Well, I guess I don't have anything clever to say, but I liked the story.
Oh, lovely. I envy you that moment.
Thanks for your comments everyone. This happened last year. I wonder if the Salvation Army man is still out there. He was truly something.
