Check mate
These photos of paintings featuring Putin and Medvedev were taken by Ellendea Proffer at a medical facility in Moscow a few years ago. I first saw them on my friend Arabella Proffer's facebook page.

I thought these were utterly fascinating: the poses, the clothing (Seinfeld jeans!), the prancing horse and battleship in the backgrounds ...
Arabella mentioned in another thread that she thought there were nine paintings in the facility--one to represent each time zone in Russia.
The naval vessel in the second painting (?) is the "aircraft cruiser" 'Kuznetsov'. The Soviets and then the Russians gave this ship three or maybe four other names until they came to the current one.
She was a sister ship to the vessel the Ukrainians sold to the People's Republic of China a few years ago. The Chinese have made some modifications, but calling the ship an 'aircraft carrier' is akin to saying that Janitor in a Drum is 'mouthwash.'
