Erin, I was quite hopeful for Mr. Wolf, when his transformation viddie went viral, but he's still having some problems, unfortunately.

See here.

I've kept my eyes open for him, when I drive downtown GR, as I'd like to personally wish him luck in getting his life back on track. No luck so far.

Thanks for dropping in with that, John. I sure hope Wolf finds his way.

20 days in jail for disturbing a Burger King. God Bless America.

BTW...It would belie my designation as Crotchity Old Lefty if I did not mention that our loving God and Country Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocked the funding of Healthcare benefits for Veterans because they couldn't attach new sanctions against Iran to the measure. Assholes.

From this must read for any and all Crotchety Old Lefties:

My dad is 67 years old, a full year younger than the average Fox viewer, who is 68, according to an analysis in New York magazine by columnist Frank Rich. I’ve read accounts of people my age — 40 or so — losing parents to cancer or Alzheimer’s, but just as big a tragedy are the crops of grandmothers and grandfathers debilitated by Fox News-induced hysteria.

Thank you.

Edwin Lyngar needs to spend some time with a family who has a loved one suffering and dying from Alzheimer's disease. The comparison isn't funny in the slightest. Edwin might consider spending some quality time with his dad.

Bill, I did not detect one note of sarcasm or humor in the entire essay.

For the record, I've seen Alzheimer's up close and personal. In the beginning stages, it does indeed change a personality. A person can turn mean and intractable--sort of like how Lyngar describes his Dad.

I thought the comparison was a little over the top, but not inappropriate.

I think Bill should hook up with Kelly Blazek. They could pleasure themselves by reading Ayn Rand.

@ Erin-Me too.

My Grandmother never became mean or quarrelsome (perhaps in part due to a late-life taste for peach brandy) and we kept her in her house (nearby, and thanks Lord for that)until we could simply no longer take care of her physically.

The most difficult aspect of the entire experience was seeing the look on her face when she finally realized that what we all had been telling her was in fact true.

There's not a scintilla of wry or glib in this column. I'm going to wait a while and read it again, because I can't fathom how anyone could read this as cracking wise. After reading it, it's a pretty damn apt analogy.

The transformation of Wolf was heart breaking. And that there are no mental health benefits of any stature for veterans, who will have to live with the trauma they lived through because of Republican assholery is despicable. And not just for veterans, for all of us. They've cut it all, and Ronnie was the first, cutting the life out of mental health in California. It's criminal.

@Jim-If you haven't seen it, Wednesday's Daily Show provided some great context for the GOP's hypocrisy and mendacity on defense spending.

Spoiler alert: If one ever wanted to make the case that Dick Cheney should burn in hell*, all you would need is about a half-hour's worth of him on video and plenty of quotation marks.

@RJ-For another entry in the ever-popular "Bizarre Shit Happens In And Around Fast Food Joints" category, google "Fake Burger King."

I'm pretty sure Cleo McDowell is gonna be pissed off.

@MR...

"Now Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

P.S. Bet no one goes to jail.
