Dig!

So ... dig everything that was right and wrong with the 90's hipster scene: heroin, androgyny and bad teeth all playing out before a backdrop of irresistible chords and the intoxicating self-absorption of the twentysomething set.

With a cast of characters such as Matt Hollywood, Courtney Taylor-Taylor (that's a he-man Courtney), a tambourinist who sports massive Jackie O sunglasses and a ghoul named Genesis P-Orridge, this one was positively hypnotic. There's even a side order of dancing syringes and a banana in a zip suit.

And, oh yeah, it's a documentary.

Dig! was absolutely fantastic. I was barely a fan of the Dandy Warhols and I don't think I had ever heard of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, but it was fascinating nonetheless.

I think we need a corollary to Andy Warhol's 'Inevitable Fifteen Principle':

"While each person may expect no more than Fifteen Minutes Of Fame, the public at large will be defenseless against said person's sense of SELF-importance, which will seem to be infinite."
