In lieu of commentary on the debt ceiling, the readership's humble hostess offers this important footage featuring Raquel Welch in a staggering theatrical performance.
As always, the readership's humble hostess thanks the readership for its continued support.

Oh what the hell Erin, open it up. I'll start with this this, via Improved Clinch via Borepatch

I think I'm going to land on Alph's side. Break out the debt ceiling debate. I'm nervous around Raquel. She makes me feel like a boy.
I've been hitting the keys hard all day on an unrelated project and my head is spinning, but I'll chime in.
This whole crisis was manufactured. I'm furious over these clowns scaring the shit out of the whole world and risking a credit rating that was essentially established by the reliability of the American tax payers.
Sure there's more, but I'm too tired for it right now.
GRRRRR!!!!
And oh yeah, Raquel makes me bi-curious.
Uh, I didn't mean my comment in a bi-curious way exactly. I meant she makes me feel that I LOOK and ACT like a boy. All angles and elbows while she just glides around that roadhouse with her red bra hanging out and swinging her hips, rounded and curved at all the edges.
Now that Alph threw down and gauntlet and you agreed to play when you've rested, I imagine the stuff will start flying here pretty soon.
Raquel - smokin'. And she's a patriot in my book for all the USO tours she's done over the years. Rock on, Raquel, rock on.

She has a nice rack, yes, and me not being a hetero male, bi,or gay, her lack of talent at not only acting but DANCING, leaves me cold. I get it, but it's not for me. How can you have hips and tits like that and not be able to dance? What a crime.
You are the best, however, Erin. Again, your cosmology rocks. I love that you posted this video and I love posts that have their cake and eat quite mentioning anything to your heart's desire.
I am always amazed at your ability to keep up with the political posts and comment threads. I don't touch that stuff (except in a have-my-cake-and-eat-it-too sort of a way).
Bravo. I look forward to your writing every day.
twinkly
and to think she's 70 !!!!!!!!
Erin, you might find this interesting: http://www.newyorker.com/talk/financial/2011/08/01/110801ta_talk_surowiecki?mbid=social_retweet
Not long ago I watched the 1972 movie The Last of Shelia, in which both Rachel Welch and Dyan Canyon modeled swimwear. They both looked great, but I thought Dyan exuded a little more sex appeal. I know, I'm comparing apples and oranges. Or maybe melons.
Cannon, not Canyon.
I told you she exuded a little more sex appeal.
@ twinkly-as I recall, Raquel received rave reviews in the '80s for her performance on Broadway in a revival of "Woman of the Year". Singing and dancing, iirc.
@ Kirk-Mrs Freud called, she wants her slip back!!!
@ Hostess-Thanks for sharing, but if at all possible could your crack (pun intended) staff scare up some more shots of our tan-line-damsel-in-distress posted earlier? Pleeeeez?
To all-I recommend Garrett Epps and/or Bruce Bartlett for scholarly discussion of Section Four of the Fourteenth amendment. We all might be hearing a LOT about it in coming days.

Moral of this post:
The DC Call Girls could end the gov't impasse in about 5 minutes.

Every blog needs a call girl expert. Thanks, RJ
I saw her a few years ago, shopping at Neiman Marcus in L.A. She was with a short, Italian looking bodyguard. They *both* looked FABULOUS! Movie star material right there.
I've seen my share of celebs around here, and I must say, she's held up really well. Some others (Meg Ryan) not so much.
Dang...don't get me started. Gossip is as bad as politics!
Not just tits 'n arse?
I just read throught this entire comment thread.
***LOVE IT**
I cannot stop watching this clip. I want Rocky's outfit. As for our featured performer, she was ... what? A sex symbol for sure, and also (as evidenced above), not an a-list actress, but everyone always loved her and still does. Probably because she always had a girl-next-door vibe.
On the debt ceiling: I swear the righties are arguing over who gets to vote "no" and use the "I didn't give Obama a blank check" mantra in the next election cycle.
Red bra.
Swoon.
what movie was this from?
I think it's the made for TV "Scandal in a Small Town" 1988.
I love that Raquel is beating out the debt ceiling in this thread.
Scandal in a Small Town. 1988. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096044/
good god, the 80's sucked. Funny thing is, Raquel was 48 at the time of that flick... still hot.
Since I'm at the advanced age of 46, that surely gives me hope.
Off to buy a red bra ...
It's a debt wish, not a debt ceiling. A ceiling is an upper limit.
THAT is some mighty fine....acting.
Thank you, Erin, for this posting that pungent social commentary.
What does it say about our times when I watch this and say, "Hmmm.. Red bra. We know what side of the aisle she supports."
I didn't really say that. I was too breathless at the time. Ms. Welch remains the most beautiful of God's creations, does she not?
You're pretty cute too, Erin.
Rachel has always brought out the other side of me...
Erin, you are no doubt about to post a new post soon. I just realized there was some weird gaffe in my previous comment and part of it made no sense. Who knows what happened. But I stand by my lack of love for Raquel. Except when I was a wee lassie, I wanted to be like her or to be a playboy bunny. It's actually sad.
DOn't worry Twinks. Nobody here is judgemental. Ha!
EVERYONE CAN RELAX!!!
I've solved the default problem! I remember one of my key financial strategies from college! I knew those 81/2 years would pay off.
All we have to do is re-route the checks we have to send out. Boeing gets General Dynamic's check, Grandma gets Sgt Rock's vet check, Sgt rock gets Grandma's social security check.
We can count on the Postal Service to buy us a least a month sorting it out. Maybe then the Kool-aid in Washington will wear off and the country can address its most pressing problems.
