Basking in the intellectual depth of the Tea Party
"When they were out in the Boston Harbor, they weren't arguing about who was gay or who was having an abortion," said Tea Party Patriots national leadership council member Ralph King.--from Politico

The last I heard we have a government to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, and promote the general welfare. Somehow those words imply that social issues must be addressed whether the Tea Party likes it or not. Shrinking governemt is becoming a classic cliche.
As if the woes of 1773 Bostonians have a damn thing to do with the woes of 2010 Americans. When I realized that um yes, Erin, that's what these morons believe, I laughed out loud for 5 minutes.
Somebody ought to tell 'em that we (ahem) ARE taxed by our own representatives.
Jesus Christ awmighty.
Doesn't really matter. Not one of your newly elected tea partiers will cut a nickel out of this country's beleaguered budget.
Tea Party, snore, idiot American voters, snore, uneducated and fearful conservative people, snore, empire going down the toilet screaming we're the best in the world, snore, my own comments on your blog, snore.
A "Ditto" to swine.
"empire going down the toilet screaming we're the best in the world, snore"
I must admit, I disagree on this one. I am endlessly fascinated watching the goddamn Titanic as it heads straight for the iceberg while the passengers merrily sip champagne.
"This is bad, Rose."
Many people would say that the Titanic hit the berg a year and a half ago.
I don't think the ship will sink. But I think that the passengers will have to accept that the ship will be riding a lot lower in the water from this point forward.
I suppose the only question is who will be thrown overboard in an attempt to get the ship to rise so that those in the expensive cabins will be further from the waves.
These ship analogies are fun! Also apt.
(My word verification word is 'mydrobbi', which in my fevered world I can read as either 'my drobbi' or 'my Dr. Obbi'. I think a drobbi is something like a hobbit, and that Dr. Obbi is a dentist from Uganda. Of course, Dr. Obbi could be a drobbit from Uganda, too.)
Drobbi is slang for the male member.
Is this a joke ?.
Nope, Vince, I'm afraid that there is an actual quote.
Does this narrow position reflect a shift away from the wide stance of Larry Craig?
They say a picture is worth a thousand words so...

(I particularly like the monkey driving 'Ol man Rush.)
Speaking of depth, I understand one can drown in as little as two inches of water; shallow indeed, but still dangerous in their bovine-like simplemindedness.
I feel like I should write something shallow just to fuck up this parade of sophisticates. Dangerous and shallow... hmmm. Gotta go have a glass of red first.
Soon self-loathing homosexuals will be the toast of the country club crowd. 'Tis the season...

I read that Politico piece. I don't understand why you would criticize the fact that they don't want to focus on those social issues. So what? I don't care who has an abortion or in which orifice people want to insert their drobbi. It's none of my business.
Erin: I believe you're wrong about them not cutting aything out of the budget. We'll see very soon but I think they're serious. Do you really think they think the issues are the same now as then? Do you really think the Tea Party is a movement of stupid people?
And the scrip for hillbilly heroin in his hatband, heh.
It's code, Bill. The opposite extreme of the poverty pimping dumbocraps, who would have us believe the vulgarity of the human heart is an insurable defect. The teabaggers believe they are the stalwart equivalents of that glorious wild bunch of bastards that fought the Crown. They are not. They are the shallow generals of mediocrity.
Rush Limbaugh, is by the way, a schill for mattresses and software, nothing more, nothing less.
Might I add, philbilly, Rush is also a junkie. Somehow he avoided the prison term a darker skinned American might have gotten for the same behavior.
Is there a world leader, somebody in the news, anybody living, a group of people, that you guys like, respect, think highly of?
That somehow is cash. The poverty industry relies on corrupting one of the fundamental tenets of the American experiment, innocent until proven guilty. The judicial system at the street level is largely a de facto drug money laundering scheme. As rank and file mules and low income users revolve through the assembly line, a revenue stream, illicit, tax-based and otherwise, enters the mainstream economy. Wealth, quite independent of race, is the get out of jail card. OJ bought his way out of a double murder.
If prostitution is illegal, start rounding up the lawyers.
Bill, I like Ike. He wasn't perfect, but he wasn't bought.
And choke on this, I see Obama threading a narrow trench, and taking flak from both sides. Saddled as he is with the D behind his American name, and certainly lacking some of the esoteric saavy needed on the Hill, he's managed to piss off everyone, a sure sign of discretion.
I hasten to add OJ was aided and abetted in beating the rap because of that racist piece of shit Mark Fuhrman.
Here is the sad reality liberals cannot accept:
The American people do not want Marxism, Fascism, and homosexuality. That's why they gave a stinging rebuke to Barry Soetoro and elected the hard traditionalists, just as I predicted.
Because Marxism and Fascism need homosexuality in order for their seed of tyranny to take root, they had embarked on several covert methods of converting our children to homosexuality, using the SEIU as a front. I predict all this homomongering among Barry Soetoro's minions will be exposed by the GOP in the coming term (as well as his true place of birth, his religion, and what went on with Joe Sestak). Barry will be humiliated, and will not run in 2012, thus ending America's dark dabbling in Marxist Fascism.
George Soros and Xenu will lead us out of the darkness Lord.

Actually Lord,
You are wrong polls show most people don't care what someone does in there own house.
It's funny the Tea Party talks about being constitutionalists, but they kind of forget that part about equal rights, and the pursuit of happiness. All exit polls showed that the most important thing for the people was jobs. What the hell are the Repubs going to do about jobs? Since they are the ones who keep voting to give incentives for outsourcing. 3/4 of the jobs lost in Ohio and Michigan were do to outsourcing! Thansk to the GOP and the U.S. Of (China) Chamber of Commerce. Just because FoxPac News and Limpballs says it, doesn't make it true Mr. Basil.
Despite my disappointments with him, Bill, Obama is still my man.
Lord: if most of the job loss in Ohio was caused by the GOP, why did the citizens of Ohio vote big for the GOP?
Erin: I think the next 2 years are going to be even more challenging than the last two for the President. I wish he would announce that he will not run again and see if he could actually get started on fixing social security, medicare, pension reform, illegal immigration. Without the burden of campaigning, he would probably do well.
That's a good question Bill. The only answer I have is, they believed the lies of the Repubs. Afterall, the only thing the GOP has done for two years is lie and say no!
HAHAHAHAHAHA god, that's awesome.
Awesomely BAD.
I don't know all that much about the Tea Party movement, other than what I've seen on TV and/or read in news outlets. As best that I can tell, they are:
Patriots exercising their rights under the Constitution (from the perspective of the right).
Right Wing, uneducated, stupid racist white hillbillies without an agenda, mouthing off anything anti-Obama and anti-Democrat (from the perspective of the left).
Do I have it about right?
This being said, I offer this in response to the inference that the author of the quote at the top of this blog post is stupid:
"We have to pass the bill so we can see what's in it ..." - Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
If that isn't patently stupid (her statement infers she hadn't even read the bill yet wants to pass it), I don't know what is.
I think there's enough stupidity to go around on both sides of the aisle.
Al
TRAG
I will second that one Al.
Example: Repub Congressman to be from Maryland has a hissy because his goverment run healthcare doesn't kick in for 28 days. He asked if he could buy it from the government for that period. Uh, that's a public option. This idiot ran on a repeal Obamacare campaign. Governement run Healthcare good for congress not good for us! Can we say Two-Faced! Forked Tongue!!
I still don't see anything wrong with a bunch of people voicing their opposition to what's happening in Washington and the country. They may not have all the answers but they know something stinks and they want to get rid of the smell. It's their right. At least no one's paying them like they do the union guys.
Erin, yous blog is such fun because you get both sides...Thanks
Except they are funded by the repub establishment, Dick Armey, Liz Cheney and the wife of a Supreme Court Justice.
And for the most part they have based their "party" on lies.
