Spider Baby

I took the advice of commenters in this post and checked out Spider Baby over the weekend. I knew it was worth it as soon as the opening credits rolled.

You don't want to see the movie? Fine, don't see the movie, but whatever you do, spend the next 1:44 minutes digging the intro:

I wonder if that's Lon Chaney doing the voice. Anybody know?

Grinning at my desk from ear to ear! What a great afternoon break. "Boys and ghouls having a ball", indeed. LOVED the music.

As far as I know, even though the film was known by as many as five different titles, Chaney has the credit for the intro voice. Gotta love the B-Movie !!!

What I love about this intro is that it reminds me of what it was like to be so so so excited about Halloween as a kid.

This is one of my favorite movies. It's also the movie that taught me that I can't go around trying to stuff my enthusiasms down the throats of my friends and family. No one else I know likes it.

But I did get one of my sister's great one-liners out of the experience. There's the one scene near the start where the blonde femme fatal is walking up the stairs to the mansion, the camera following the sway of her hips. Halfway through the shot, my sister turns to me.

"If she was a horse," my sister said, "her name would be Secretaryass."

And yeah, that's Lon Cheney Jr. doing the vocals.

There's a band called Phantomas that did a great cover of this.

I would like an animation/audio segment like this for my eulogy.

The scene with the chick runing in the black bra and garter belt with the black chiffon lingerie is pretty spectacular as well.

Bridget, you are killing me!

Wow one of my favorite movies ever. I loved it so much I made a musical version that I'm touring about. There is a link to the trailer on the video you posted.

Oh and it is Lon Chaney singing. Jack Hill the writer and director told me.

Love your blog by the way.
