Erin,

Try warming the price stickers with a hair dryer. They will come right off.

Hey!! I was just looking to see what the comments might be, half the fun of reading this blog... Didn't think I would post... but my WV is "blesses"! As in Erin blesses us all with her wit and humour... yay.

h

I mean who ever gets "blesses" ...

See, now I just take a Sharpie and scratch out the price. No muss, no fuss. Leave it to the recipient to do the dirty work.

Merry Christmas!

Oh, no. WV - I swear it is true. LimesNow stunned into momentary silence! Dicle. Popdicle comes to mind. Would that be too offensive to say? "Mom, may I have a dicle to buy a penny candy?" "Don't dicle me, you'll make me wet my pants." Oh, what a lunch break today. I'm glad I stopped by. Sorry, readers.

Sorry Erin, but the sound on the library computer wasn't working, so I don't know exactly what you said, but I gather from the comments you had trouble removing the price sticker from a present you want to give. Did you buy this present from a mall that offers free gift wrapping? They usually offer to also remove the sticker. If not, I'm with Colleen, just scribble.

There was one time where I gave someone a present, watched that person remove the wrapping, and then, to my horror, realized I'd forgotten to either remove or scribble out the price.

I love it when I find one of those price tags with the water soluble type sticky. Just wet it, and it slides right off. I wish more companies used those, they seem much more environmentally friendly than the ones you have to pour lighter fluid on to get off.

Speaking of lighter fluid, I've heard that it works miracles when trying to get a sticky tag off of something that's made of paper. It evaporates quickly and won't leave a mark on the paper. I've never actually tried it, but I've heard many an antique dealer swear by it....especially when trying to get stickies off of vintage postcards.

take a piece of cellotape and stick it over the price tag, scratch it a few times, then rip it off.

Not only do I remove the original price tag, but I've purchased an old price gun for the sole purpose of screwing with the recipient.

Merry Christmahanakwanzika!

My dad used to change the price on the tag. If something was marked $11.50, he'd carefully change it to $111.50, by drawing the one over the decimal point and squeezing a new decimal point in between the new one and the five.
