yea i love his stuff. i tweeted this a few days ago; there is a documentary on his work called: "Manufactured Landscapes" that you would LOVE. The opening shot is a slow, tracking shot of an assembly factory in China. It lasts 9 fucking minutes! I think it's on youTube. Yup. I'd like to see the exhibit, too, but I feel that I'd be very schizophrenic - both intrigued and repelled. Our desert southwest and the mountain states are hideously scarred. When we camp in the Mojave we see not oil, but mineral mining atrocities. One doesn't need to be brilliant to see that the debris left behind and the holes gouged out are permanent damage.
On the bright side, we've made it much easier on all the future archeologists.
Burtynsky (my wife will proudly point out he's Canadian) always focuses on extraction. His stuff is just amazing. Erin, do try to get that docu. if you can. It's on Netflix. YOu and The Goat will dig it.
