At the moment of orgasm I knew that I was in a great, golden light and I experienced myself as transparent, luminous energy. I saw seven star-like, golden, swirling points that lined up in my body.--a quote from "Carrie" in Linda Savage's "Spiritual Sex" piece for HuffPo.

I think there are underlying factors to an orgasm being a transcendent experience. Sometimes a nut is just a nut.
Other times, it is a defining mark on the person. So much depends upon what it is and isn't.
After all, if all orgasms were created equally, would the ejaculation in a money shot carry the same weight as a money shot from someone you love?
Then you have the things that lead up to it, the emotional energy and physical yearning and attraction. Maybe I am just talking arsewise, but I am just saying ...
Roll on, Big O. What's not to like about orgasms? And to think some people are squeamish about sex. What a shame. Minding my own business, my partner and I enjoy all kinds of orgasms.
