"The temple is just a great wonderful experience," said Quentin Cook.
"When we come to the temple we take off our street clothes," added Russell Ballard, "and we dress in white. I would have on a white shirt, and a white tie, white trousers, white socks, white slippers and everybody then, is on a wonderful, equal basis."
I wonder if they ever throw on a strand of pearls to jazz it up a bit.

Hopefully not after Labor Day.

isn't there a song by zz top about a "pearl necklace"?
:)
My sister converted to Mormonism in the mid-70's. Raised her children that way. And while I don't 'get it', and find the lifestyle stifling, if not Stepford-like, I canot argue with the results. Her kids, their spouses and extended family, are unquestionably the finest people I've ever met. Kind to a fault, helpful, humble, happy, unobtrusive, non-judgmental, healthy, productive, generous. Pretty much everyting I am not. But what I aspire to be. And what liberals pretend they are.
So ... Vman? You wanna borrow my pearls?
I wonder if they listen to the White Album?
There's that word again "liberals"...
What on earth are you talking about Velociman? Seriously?
People who exhibit the qualities that you listed are not real. They are "plastic people". They spend their entire lives running around trying to live up to some ideal that has been fed to us by the government for generations; be good, pay your taxes, obey the law and don't ask questions.
Do you think that you're going to impress anyone by announcing that you aspire for society's approval?
I know plenty of people who would describe themselves as Liberals who are unhappy, unhealthy and as obtrusive as hell. And none of them pretend otherwise. They're like this because they push the boundaries. They're not satisfied with just blindly chasing after a government-approved dream.
This strange idea you have that "Liberals" wander around pretending to be perfect citizens is the worst sort of nonsense; it's a nonsense that has been fed to you by the Republican Party and right-wing radio programs.
In my experience the one, single, quality that Liberals share is a desire, and a belief, in progress; that things can get better.
Equally the one common belief that all Republicans seem to have is that the country ain't what it used to be and that we've all need to return to the values of some lost, golden age, which, coincidentally, seems to involve grinding down anyone who doesn't vote Republican.
I would argue that the divide between Liberals and Republicans is a divide between optimists and pessimists.
Am I the only one who sees the name "Russell Ballard" and thinks, "So that's where the lead singer for Argent ended up?"
