All Hailie Bailie

In lieu of a "Rainy Day Woman" column in the Free Times this week, I'm offering up Test Tube Delivery, which gives a glimpse into Grant Bailie's new novel Mortarville.

Here is a piece of Bailie's flash fiction courtesy of SmokeLong Quarterly. And here is his MySpace page if you'd like to get to know Bailie better.

That's fun to type: Bailie better.

Bailie better Bailie better Bailie better

Bailie will be reading from Mortarville this Saturday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. at Mac's Backs in Cleveland Heights. I'll be there and I hope you will too!

Um, cute though he is, he does look a bit bored sitting there next to you. How Dare HE? You look so happy and bubbly! Perhaps if he were sitting on the chair shown in your last post, his affect would be, ah, different! Wish I lived nearby, I would show up! Maybe some time when I visit my family in PA we should get together for tea, a few beers, chair spinning...

I can't decide if he looks depressed or pissed off.

I was not depressed or pissed--that's just how I photograph. Ask Erin. Ask my wife. Ask my coworkers. Well...OK, with my coworkers I really am depressed. But with Erin I was having a great day that day, despite the fact that I look like I am holding the side of my face together like I was Jacob Marley's ghost without the kerchief.

Also, I wasn't bored.
