This photo was taken of my father-in-law and mother-in-law on their wedding day nearly 51 years ago. We lost my mother-in-law last night after a sudden and brief illness. My only regret about our relationship is that it ended way too soon.
My mother-in-law's given name was Aphrodite Evangelos Patisteas. She legally removed her middle name because she just despised it. For her first name, she always went by Pat as the memory of childhood taunts was awful for her. Of course, Aphrodite was the Greek Goddess of love and beauty.
I always thought the name couldn't have been more fitting.
Goodbye Pat and thanks for all your love and generosity and for treating me like your own. I will miss you and miss you and miss you.
