Excerpt from the above:
Closing time. Time for you to go out to the places you will be from.
Closing time. This room won't be open till your brothers or your sisters come.
So gather up your jackets, move it to the exits. I hope you have found a friend.
Closing time. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end, yeah.
Closing time. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end, yeah.
I like to imagine the conversation between our darling lyricists during the creation of that poetry.
"But what does that mean, 'the places you will be from?'"
"It means, like, the next time they leave the place they're going to, it will become the place they're from."
"What do you mean, 'from?'"
"When they leave wherever they're going to."
"Huh?"
"Look, when they leave the bar, they gotta go someplace, right?"
"Yeah."
"And when they eventually leave that place, it will be the place they will be from."
"Um, I thought this was supposed to be about closing time at a bar."
"Dude, it is. We're just adding some depth. We're making a statement that goes, like, beyond the concept of just a bar closing."
"Beyond."
"We're moving into commentary."
"I thought we were moving to the places we will be from."
"Now you're getting it. Everything's got to start from somewhere."
"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."
"Yeah."
BEAT OF BLOOMING REVELATION
"Hey! That can be the next line!"
"Perfect. Now explain the part about 'your brothers or your sisters.'"
"That just sort of filled up the right number of syllables."
"Oh."

I just like that guitar riff. That part they were completely correct about.
When I was in Savannah GA in '85 maybe '86 the Owner de la Gin-mil-a-la-mode du jour turned the lights up like 15 minutes earlier than he needed to and had a line up of 3-4 tracks calculated to sell shots and clear the room: 'One' by Three Dog Night, 'Lonely Days' from the pre-disco Bee Gees and le bombe surprise, a GREAT obscure track from Steppenwolf called "Everybody's Next One."
Dude knew you were just wasting subtlety on 23-year olds...
